Best time to post on Instagram and TikTok for an Afghan and Persian-speaking audience

There is no magic hour that works for everyone. Here's how to find the best time to post for your own audience, in Afghanistan, Iran or abroad.

Search online and you'll find dozens of "best time to post" charts. Most of them are made for American or European audiences. Your followers may be in Kabul, Herat, Mashhad, Tehran, Hamburg or Toronto, and they wake up, work and relax at very different hours.

The good news: finding your own best time is not hard. You need to know where your audience is, and test properly for a few weeks.

First, find out where your audience is

Check which countries and cities most of your followers are in. On Instagram and TikTok you can see this in Insights / Analytics if you have a professional (Business or Creator) account.

  • Afghanistan: Kabul time (UTC+4:30). Friday is the weekend.
  • Iran: Tehran time (UTC+3:30), one hour behind Kabul. Friday is the weekend.
  • Diaspora in Europe, North America or Australia: several hours to half a day away from Kabul.

If your audience is spread out, focus on the place where most of your customers or active followers are.

A starting point: when people have their phones in hand

Until you have your own numbers, these times are a good start (in your audience's local time):

  • Early morning, before work or school: around 7–9
  • Lunch break: around 12–2
  • Evening, after work and dinner: around 8–11, usually the busiest time

On weekends (Thursday afternoon and Friday) people have more free time, but many are also out with family. Test Friday separately.

How to find your own best time

  1. Pick two or three times, for example 8 am, 1 pm and 9 pm.
  2. For two to three weeks, post similar content at those times. Don't change the type of post, or you won't know whether the difference came from the time or the content.
  3. After 24 hours, note each post's numbers: views, likes, comments, saves and shares.
  4. Keep the time that worked best, and test a new one against it.

Repeat this every few months. Habits change with seasons, school terms and holidays.

Common mistakes

  • Posting at your time, not your audience's. If you live in Germany and your customers are in Kabul, your 9 pm is their midnight.
  • Posting and leaving. The first hour matters. Reply to comments quickly and your post gets shown more.
  • Changing everything at once. Change one thing at a time.
  • Forgetting consistency. Regular posts at good times beat lots of posts at random times.

Schedule so you don't have to stay up

If your audience's best time is 10 pm in Kabul but you work in Europe, you don't need an alarm every night. With Yekja you prepare a post once and schedule it for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Telegram at the time you choose. The Results page shows which hours worked best for your own posts, based on your accounts' real numbers, not a generic chart.

Summary

The best time to post isn't a fixed number. Find out where your audience is, start with morning, lunch and evening, test for a few weeks and look at the numbers. Then schedule your posts for those hours and spend your time making better content.
